I had an awakening at 30 years old

I was thirty years old and had never bonded with an animal when a friend suggested I come over and spend the weekend. I had just gone through a major life event and welcomed the opportunity for company and rest. During my time there, where I rarely got out of bed, one of her cats called “China” sat on my chest each day making cookies, secretly infecting me with a virus, which I now know to be incurable. It was the love of animals.

After the loss of my first animal, a white cat called “Fiona”, I was broken. Who was I in the world without her? I made a promise that if I survived this unique loss I would help others. It was a silent promise that went deep into a space where my future-self smiled

A healing journey that led me to help others heal

Shortly after, I began working for a veterinarian who set me on the road to holistic healing and care for animals, yet I always found myself gravitating towards the grieving pet parent. So I followed the energy and realized it was a sacred resonance which allowed me understand that the animals and people I might support would find me and I them.

Over the past twenty years I have supported San Diego pet parents along their healing journey from the loss of their beloved companion animals. I have written four books about my life with animals that help heal the heart of the pet parent. I’ve worked in the pet nutrition field, given workshops and talks on pet loss and animal hospice, and then worked for a mobile veterinarian for seven years specializing in end-of-life-care.

I pursued my education, completing my accredited schooling as an Animal Hospice Practitioner so I could focus on what I loved and do it my way. So I continued to follow the energy which led to the creation of my business.

“If you were able to perceive with your senses who you truly be, you would see the brightest most beautiful light, brighter than any star in the heavens. That’s why so many of you are drawn to animals, for animals are indeed the light and they draw us to them. Your light might be diminished at times, but it will never, ever go out.”

A passion to help those who help animals

My mobile veterinary practice, The Caretakers Animal Care is in its third year, supporting pet parents and their companion animals with end-of-life care. These years have been filled with miracles and a continuing unfolding of my desire to assist folks who work in the field of animal care. My eyes have been truly opened to the work they do, the energy they give and the hearts that undergo the wear and tear that caring for animals takes.

My desire is to give back

In my desire to give back to animal welfare professionals I offer workshops, webinars and professional development to employees and the organizations they work for. I share my light, my experience and my strength with others so that they too can see that their light, their strength and their experiences are the truest ingredients needed for their incredible life’s work and journey. I want them to know they are never alone and there is somebody who understands, all of it.
